The Swedish company Fjällräven (translated as “polar fox”) is a legendary manufacturer of backpacks, clothing and other outdoor equipment. The result of the brand’s long-term development is the updated Keb series, which includes this advanced trekking backpack.
Keb backpacks, including the 72-liter one, may appear modest and minimalist (like the entire Scandinavian design), but don’t be fooled by the first impression. These advanced trekking backpacks are literally packed with smart features.
Keb backpacks are equipped with the iconic wooden frame, which is the only one of its kind in the world. Thanks to this frame, Keb backpacks can carry even extremely heavy loads while minimizing the strain on the wearer’s back. The comfortable and robust carrying system also has an adjustable back length for even better fitting to the wearer’s body.
From the past, we know that some clothing and equipment can even harm health with their chemical treatments. This is not the case with Fjällräven Keb backpacks, as they do not contain PFAS, which are perfluorinated and polyfluorinated substances widely used in the second half of the 20th century.
Fjällräven backpacks are truly sustainable regardless of size. The used polyester and Bergshell polyamide are, for instance, recycled. The manufacturer speaks of “sustainability through longevity,” which should be a standard for quality products regardless of the specific product.
Last but not least, we must mention the seeming little things that this backpack is equipped with and that are a delight. These include attachment points for skis, ice axes or trekking poles, and even loops for attaching sleds (toboggan). The low-profile design of the backpack facilitates movement, and the compartments and pockets are really well thought out. For example, the front one, which has space for reinforcing layers or a small shovel.
