The Skycrane II pack is a modular load bearing system which can be expanded with innumerable additional functional features. In the basic set-up, the Skycrane II features the FannyTop fanny pack and the Little Brother pack, other load bearing parts, for example a scabbard, can be attached easily. Due to its design and modularity, the pack is suitable for long-distance hikes and expeditions where you need to have a pack-load of equipment at hand.
The front side of the pack is covered with upper and lower flaps, which are connected with a plastic buckle and work as a vertical compression security when the pack is fully loaded. Both flaps are equipped with MOLLE platforms for more modularity. Under the upper flap are two horizontal straps which secure the two tubular pockets interconnected with a zip. The pockets are deep and close with a buckle, again there is MOLLE webbing. At the bottom of both pockets are elastic pockets for water bottles. The tubular pockets are large enough to stash a sleeping bag or a large hydration bladder, which can be secured inside with a hook. The central zip that holds both pockets together can be unzipped, the pockets roll out to the sides making space for the hidden Little Brother pack and a large MOLLE webbing platform. On the back side of the tubular pockets there are two additional pockets.
The Skycrane II is equipped with a removable FannyTop fanny pack, where you can stash basic survival equipment to include a hydration pack; if need be, the fanny pack can be detached and you can carry on with your mission without the main pack.
In addition to the FannyTop fanny pack, the Skycrane II also come with the Little Brother pack. It is a perfectly functional pack on its own suitable for shorter operations. The pack does not come with a waist belt, but you can use the one from the Skycrane II system.
Just like all other Eberlestock backpacks, the Skycrane II is also equipped with quality shoulder straps, which are sufficiently padded yet breathable due to the used 3D mesh material. Additionally, the shoulder straps may be compressed using stabilization straps so as to adjust the distribution of weight and pressure on the shoulders. A big plus of the back system is its individual adjustability based on the height of the user. The back padding is simply massive and the central channel leaves enough room for the air to circulate around the spine. In addition to the rich padding, the back is reinforced with a plastic-aluminium frame. Therefore, the pack fits comfortably even during long hikes. On the shoulder straps are several additional loops for the attachment of additional gear and at the top the pack features a robust carry handle. An elastic sternum strap adjustable in height will help you better distribute the carried load. On the waist belt are two rows of MOLLE webbing, it is fastened with a plastic buckle just like the sternum strap. In case you do not need it, you can simply undo the velcro in the back panel and remove it.
