The Vortex Razor (3 MOA) Red Dot is an open collimator that is an excellent alternative to open mechanical sights and that facilitates aiming primarily by eliminating the problem of constant alternating eye focus on the target and on the sights.
The body of the sights is made of a single aluminium alloy, which is anodized in black for greater resistance as well as for a more attractive look. Also, thanks to this, the aiming device is not a source of unwanted reflections that would give away a shooter to an enemy or a hunter to their game.
Adjusted lens full multi-coat provides excellent image quality due to extremely high light transmission. It thus provides optimal observation results. This state-of-the-art technology guarantees a perfectly clear high contrast image, with sharp contours and with natural colour resolution.
The collimator offers a red dot with 10 adjustment degrees of illumination and centre dot brightness. Control tracker is located at the top, just behind the lens, and is perfomed with 2 arrow buttons. The buttons are placed side by side. To turn on the sight, press the up arrow button. One button, with the up arrow, brightness increasing, the down arrow button brightness decreasing. We turn the focus off by holding down the illumination level button for approximately 5 seconds. When turned on, the last selected setting will kick in. Right wheel controls side correction (windage) and top wheel controls elevation correction (elevation). There's a lock on both of these settings at the back.
The collector is powered by one CR 2032 battery included in the shipment. The battery compartment is sliding and positioned to the right in front.
It's waterproof and impact-resistant, sealed with "o" rings, so it won't leak in. The temperature range for use is sufficient, except that battery life declines as the temperature drops, especially at sub-freezing temperatures. Average battery life is at maximum brightness setting beautiful 150 hours and at minimum setting excellent 30,000 hours. If we forget to turn the collimator off after stopping use, it will automatically turn itself off after 6 hours.
The tracker shows very little parallax. In line with current industry practice, this minimal bias in object position is considered "parallax free" and has minimal impact on instrument performance.
Important: For an aiming device to work properly, proper assembly is essential. Follow the instructions in the manual. The rifle must be equipped with a Picatinny or Weaver type rail/base for the use of this collimator.
