Exotac ripSPOOL is basically a complete survival kit in the ultra compact package. It is a field repair kit that can also be used for multiple survival and bushcraft activities such as first aid, fire starting, fishing and navigation.
The ripSPOOL was an idea of Rob at Exotac and Daniel at Battlbox, which is US company producing survival gear. Their goal was to create something unique and useful without compromise. It all started with an idea how to find an easy way to carry duct tape and evolved into a comprehensive field repair kit.
The kit includes over 18 m of high-strength synthetic braided line to be used for re-stitching gear, creating tools or as an improvised fishing kit.
In the ripSPOOL Repair Kit you can also find over 127 cm of repair tape can be used for patching holes, as an improvised bandage, creating bush-crafting tools or even as tinder - the tape is flammable!
Another feature of this repair kit is a sail needle that is retained by an o-ring in the line spool so it can be used as an improvised awl / thimble. Pull it out, attach thread and reinsert for sewing.
Firecord lanyard that is also included has an inner red core that can be pulled out and used as tinder. Simply, Exotac does not deny its primary focus (production of products for fire starting) even here. It burns slow, like a candle wick, and can be lit with any of Exotac ferrocerium firestarters as well as sparker nanoSPARK.
