Gear Aid manufactures advanced products for gluing and sealing outdoor equipment. Its product range also includes Seam Grip SIL tent seam sealant (formerly McNett Silnet), which can effectively seal seams in siliconized fabrics.
A minor complication with fabrics with a silicone coating is that sealing tapes do not stick to it, so they cannot be glued effectively. The seams of tents and other outdoor equipment are thus sewn with a thread that contains a proportion of cotton. In a humid environment, it increases in volume and thanks to this, water does not flow in from the outside. But if you tighten the tent too much, the sealed holes can open again.
If the seam of a tent, tent or similar outdoor equipment begins to leak, it is ideal to seal the seam with a product that is permanently elastic. Gear Aid Seam Grip SIL is just such a tool, which prevents water from penetrating through the seam of siliconized fabric. This sealant takes about 3 to 6 hours to dry, after which it is perfectly tight when applied correctly.
Gear Aid Seam Grip SIL tent seam sealant is resistant to extreme temperatures, both too high and too low. The advantage of Seam Grip SIL sealant is also its high flexibility, so it can stretch and shrink together with the stressed fabric and seams of outdoor equipment. Even in demanding situations, this sealant can remain permanently waterproof.
