The women's version of the Zephyr MK2 GTX HI combat boot from the German company Lowa is the latest iteration of the legendary boot that balances agility, lightness and stability. These characteristics predetermine the footwear for use by military or police special units, but also by "ordinary" members of the armed forces.
MK2 in the name of the boots indicates that this is the second generation of the Zephyr boots, which brings some improvements compared to the first generation. This is, for example, a fastening hook for a two-zone lacing system.
The Zephyr MK2 GTX HI is a boot that combines a perfect blend of materials and technology. The MID-CUT upper, which is made of suede and the patented Cordura material, is therefore ideal for abseiling or skydiving. The included suede repels water and is resistant to tearing, Cordura has a high resistance to abrasion and is breathable at the same time.
For the Zephyr MK2 GTX HI boots, a waterproof and at the same time excellently breathable Gore-Tex Extended Comfort membrane was used. Gore-Tex membranes have been tried and tested for years and you can rely on them. The same is true for the innovative midsole, which is double-layered, made of polyurethane foam and is combined with a Monowrap frame that hugs the wearer's foot and supports it.
These Lowa boots are not only designed for abseiling, but if you have ever done such an activity, then you know that special requirements are placed on boots for these special purposes. For example, the hooks on the laces must be hidden so that they don't get caught in the rope, good heel cushioning and of course a stable upper are also important. All these features prevent potential injury.
The Zephyr MK2 GTX HI features a unique two-zone lacing system where the forefoot and upper have separate (and separately adjustable) lacing zones. The boot can thus adapt perfectly to the anatomy of your foot and can be laced in different ways for different usage scenarios.
The Zephyr MK2 GTX HI footwear is manufactured using a technologically relatively demanding designing process. And specifically by injection, which connects the sole with the upper. This ensures more effective cushioning and greater wearer comfort. The upper part of the boot is inserted into a special mold, and various layers of PU foam filling are gradually poured into it.
The Lowa-Monowrap boot frame creates a three-dimensional midsole design, keeping the foot comfortable and supported. Especially when you need to cross an uneven surface. The snug fit of the foot in the boot means that you won't get tired as quickly when walking. In addition, the two-layer midsole perfectly insulates heat and cold.
All Zephyr MK2 footwear models have used the X-Trac Military sole, which has the best anti-slip properties (SRC - according to ISO 20347), excellent insulation against extreme temperatures – whether hot or cold – and is resistant to fuel, oil and contact heat.
