Soft Arkansas Sharpening Stone Lansky® 6“ x 2“

Arkansas Sharpening Stone consists of a sedimentation rock of novaculite known as Arkansas Stone. It is excellent for sharpening fixed blade knives but also folding knives, hunting and fishing knives and others. It is also great for cutting tools for gardening or woodworking or for maintenance of industrial cutting tool.

Instuctions for use 

Step 1 - select the proper side of the stone 

• soft – for maintaining of already sharp edge 
• hard – for polishing of finished edge  

Step 2 - set a stone on a stable flat surface 

Step 3 - apply few drops of Nathan´s Honing Oil(opptional but recommended)

Step 4 - observe the bevel angle you intend to sharpen; bring the edge to the stone matching your sharpening angle and push the edge off the blade across the stone in one motion (like trying to slice a thin layer of the top of the stone); maintaining a consistent angle for best results.  

Step 5 - repeat 3 - 4 times then switch to other side and repeat 

Step 6 - repeat until the edge is sharp

Step 7 - clean stone after each use and store in cool dry place 

Suggestions

• for best results use both sides of the stone
• start with 3 - 4 strokes on each side; repeat 3 - 4 times
• then use only 2 strokes on each side; repeat 2 - 3 times
• then 1 stroke on each side; repeat 1 - 2 times
• if starter with course side, move onto the fine side
• if you choose to use lubricant, use the same lubricant for every sharpening; lubricant helps to clean the stone and prevent clogging of the surface with metal shavings

Note: Read the instructions before use. Do not rush and pay attention to what you are doing. Knife sharpening is an inherently dangerous activity - if you use this sharpener properly you can not be hurt but a careless handling can hurt you.
