The Fast Rope gloves were developed by their manufacturer, MoG Gloves, in collaboration with the Royal Netherlands Army's special training unit. Their purpose is professional and tactical use during rapid abseiling/rappelling – whether during training or directly in sharp action.
When abseiling, friction occurs, which would inevitably cause burns on bare skin. The designers of these gloves focused the most attention on friction. The extra padding on the palm thus guarantees high protection against friction and heat generation, thanks to which abseiling operations are possible with these gloves up to a descent of approximately 27 meters.
The high level of flexibility of these gloves is achieved by stitching at strategic points. It is certainly worth mentioning the recesses in the important places of the index finger and thumb, which again increase ergonomics and flexibility in fine motor skills.
High sensitivity of the fingers is important for working with rope, but also with weapons or communication devices, which in this case is ensured, among other things, by the slim fit cut of the gloves. It also aims to reduce the risk of sprained fingers while abseiling.
The split leather palm gives the wearer a great and sure grip on wet and dry ropes. This solution also creates an extra layer of protection against excessive heat during abseiling. Reinforcement on the critical areas of the index finger and further between the fingers is also useful for rappelling purposes.
MoG Fast Rope gloves are equipped with a wide adjustable cuff with velcro, with which you can precisely adjust the glove's fastening to the size of your hands. Furthermore, there is a loop on the inside of the cuff that you can hang on a carabiner, for example on a tactical belt or a uniform vest.
