A long day in the field, no stove or kitchen—yet still hot meals, plenty of energy, and even a sweet treat. One of our customers tested the Ultimate Tactical Ration Full-Day, MENU V, by Pro Ration®, and kindly shared their feedback. The following review has been lightly edited for clarity, but the opinions remain entirely the author’s.
From the moment you hold the pack, you get a solid impression of robustness and quality. It’s designed to sustain one person for a full day—and size-wise, it’s surprisingly compact. Compared to packing individual items, this ration is far more efficient. It’s clear the manufacturer intended the packaging to serve additional uses beyond storing food.
Rice Pudding with Plums
Absolutely excellent. ★★★★☆ (4.5/5)
Not ideal for lunch, but perfect as a sweet breakfast or light dinner. The plums tasted nearly fresh and the seasoning was just right.
Chicken Country Style with Beans
Very good. ★★★★☆ (4/5)
Expected a bit more meat and slightly better quality, but overall the dish was well-seasoned. The mix of beans, peas, carrots, and corn was delicious.
Swedish Meatballs with Mashed Potatoes
The weakest of the three. ★★★☆☆ (3/5)
The appearance of the mashed potatoes was a bit demoralizing. The meat seemed underseasoned, but the sauce was excellent.
Main Course Overall Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
Hemp Energy Bar – ★★★★☆ (4.5/5)
Excellent taste, would be one of the more expensive choices in a store.
Chocolate Energy Bar – ★★★☆☆ (2.5/5)
Too many seeds, not enough chocolate.
Meat Bar – ★★★★☆ (4/5)
Not over-seasoned, easy to chew, not overly tough.
Peanut Butter – ★★☆☆☆ (1.5/5)
Liquid separated on opening; thick texture, tasted like unsweetened fat. Sticky and hard to get off teeth.
Salty and Sweet Biscuits – ★★★★☆ (4.5/5)
Well-balanced flavor, just right.
Coffee and Tea – ★★★★☆ (4/5)
Instant coffee was drinkable with added sugar. Black tea tasted like… well, black tea.
Chewing Gum
Freshens up the mouth a little—nothing fancy.
When I get my hands on the Ultimate Tactical Ration Full-Day, MENU V, I know I won’t go hungry. Sure, not everything is amazing, but it’s miles ahead of the “canteen mush” some of us have endured. If you’ve had army rations before, this will feel like a gourmet upgrade.
