Tactical gear too big

While gas masks and half masks are practical equipment (especially for places where we might expect chemical, smoke and/or smoke contamination), they are often impractical due to their relatively large size. And that's even if we don't use the old, original ones with a "trunk", which some of us still know from civil defense exercises from the 80s and early 90s.

They haven't invented low-profile gas masks yet, despite the fact that with other tactical equipment, maximum emphasis is placed on mobility and the most compact form possible. This is also why we have to make certain compromises with gas mask cases. For example, for the most part, these are holsters with suspension on the leg, on the side of the thigh. Because of its size, such a case is not practical to place on a plate carrier. Except for the back, and we wouldn't be able to fit our backpack there again.

Army grade construction

Of course, the design of gas mask cases still qualitatively meets the requirements of professional users, i.e. mainly members of the military. Which means that as civilians, you have complete confidence that the case will meet exactly the requirements you have for it. There are, for example, quick-release straps, a flap with one-hand control for quick access to the mask, and a non-slip back. Small holes at the bottom of the case then take care of the efficient drainage of excess moisture.

Location and materials

Most of us will hold the cases for gas masks and half masks on our left thigh. And that for one simple reason – the holster with the gun is usually located on the right thigh. So if your dominant hand is left, it will of course be the other way around.

As for materials, here most manufacturers still rely on nylon and its modifications, such as 600D, 1000D and the like. For these cases, as for other tactical equipment, increased resistance to mechanical and weather effects is important, which nylon easily fulfills.
