The category of city backpacks might seem like a bit of a digression in our concept, but first impressions can be misleading. For example, when a plainclothes police officer puts on a tactical backpack for a city mission, he is immediately revealed. And city backpacks can easily be used in outdoor areas as well.

Backpacks for the city should be not only stylish but also functional. They must have a decent back system so that long-term carrying of the backpack does not tire you unnecessarily. As with other types of backpacks, practical pockets and compartments are an advantage, to which you can later assign specific purposes (some have a predefined purpose, such as pockets for a water bottle or even for a hydration pack).

Generally speaking, a backpack is the most efficient way of carrying loads (of course, corresponding to its size). Even city backpacks have two shoulder straps for an even distribution of weight and ideally padded so that they do not cut into your shoulders while walking. After all, ergonomics is something that backpack manufacturers consider as the first thing nowadays. And only then do they wrap it in a pleasing design.

The advantage of the urban environment is that you don't need to carry as many supplies with you. Whether we're talking about food, water, or other equipment. Integrated hydration packs are simply not necessary here (but are still appreciated).

Otherwise, city backpacks have other specifics - compared to outdoor ones, they are generally smaller and have a slightly different design. For example, they may not have a lid that covers the entire top of the backpack. They also do not need to be as resistant to rain and water in general, although a certain level of water resistance is important even in an urban environment. From a design perspective, it is possible to notice a different concept of the backpack, which is often wider than in the case of outdoor models.

Regarding the internal arrangement, you will find, for example, a laptop pocket, usually in places where outdoor backpacks have that camelbag. And because city backpacks can just as well serve as school or student backpacks, they should at least have basic back padding, due to the weight of textbooks, a laptop, and other accessories.

Other special pockets may be available for small equipment, such as wallets, notebooks, keys, pens, and similar items. City backpacks are generally suitable for the city, but they are designed so that you can take them with you even on a one-day trip to nature.
