Injuries simply happen and, as they say, misfortune does not walk in the mountains, but follows people. One of the ways how to prevent such a disaster are rescue scissors. You can simply pack them in your backpack or store in your vehicle.
As they say : it is good to be ready. Part of the preparation should include the right equipment. And part of the first aid kits are also scissors, which we can use for different purposes. However, normal first aid kits contain only ordinary scissors which simply may not meet rescue standards.
Rescue scissors are a tool for professionals that should be made of the highest quality materials. Moreover, they should also meet certain criteria, which small scissors from cheap first aid kit, simply can not meet. They are good for cutting ordinary bandage, but that´s it.
The main function of every scissors is naturally cutting. Rescue scissors, however, have to do much more. They must offer all the necessary tools for professionals that need to be at hand in an emergency situations, especially when saving life.
Rescue shears should be made of a solid and durable material, but also curved to cut even the toughest fabrics, but at the same time not to further injure the injured person. They should be ergonomic for easy manipulation and not think about how to hold them in difficult situations.
Some of the rescue scissors have special features such as seat belt cutter, ring cutter or glass breaker tip. In some cases, a key to oxygen cylinders, which are normally transported for example, in ambulances, can be a useful accessory. And a ruler, which in some cases can be found on the blade, can also come in handy.
Wherever you go, it is advisable to have high-quality rescue scissors in your car (and know where you have them so that they are always at hand), or in your backpack. You never know what can happen to you or to somebody else to who you can provide first aid.
You don't have to be just a passive bystander, but also someone who actually helps. And perhaps even save a life. And for such situations, it is necessary to be prepared in advance not only with equipment, but also with theoretical and practical training and, last but not least, also with mental preparation. Even the most professional rescue scissors will be of no use if you are petrified at the sight of blood.
