This steel originates from China. It is a copy of the steel X50CrMoV15, which is produced in Germany. It is a type of steel that falls into the lower class. Nevertheless, it is used for knife production and is widely represented in the cutlery industry - especially concerning products originating from China.
The achieved hardness of 5Cr15Mov according to Rockwell reaches 54 HRC, which is categorized as steel with lower strength and hardness.
As already mentioned, this steel is most commonly encountered in the cutlery industry. This steel is used in the production of classic knives and kitchen knives. The biggest disadvantage is its low hardness.
