ColdGear® UNDER ARMOUR®

The brand Under Armour, specializing in sportswear, was established in 1996 in the United States of America. It was founded by Kevin Plank, who was a 23-year-old American football player at the University of Maryland at the time. He disliked having to constantly change the sweaty shirt he wore under his jersey. However, he noticed that his compression shorts remained dry during training and games.

This inspired him to create sports shirts with the same functionality. After graduating from college, he developed his first prototype of such a shirt. Everything began with a simple plan to make high-quality shirts that would be compressive and also wick away sweat instead of absorbing it, shirts that would help the body regulate its temperature and improve performance. Competing brands, including Nike, Adidas, and Reebok, soon followed Plank's lead and began creating their own products with similar features.

The new technologies that Under Armour began introducing also acquired their names. One of the most famous is the ColdGear technology. Apparel with this technology is ideal for keeping you dry, warm, and light. The appropriate temperature for which the material with this technology is suitable is thirteen degrees or lower. This technology is primarily intended for work in colder climates. ColdGear features a dual-layer material that wicks moisture away from your body, keeping you dry. At the same time, it retains heat, meaning that it keeps you at the right temperature and dry even under maximum exertion.
