Phylon, pronounced "fylon," is an ultra-light soft material that effectively absorbs all impacts with its inherent finesse. In essence, it is a lighter and more durable, better shapeable, double-pressed EVA insert. The disadvantage compared to EVA is, however, the higher price. Phylon is primarily used in midsoles and outsoles. In the LOAP collection, you can find phylon in footwear.
Phylon is a very light material made from EVA granules. These granules are first compressed, expanded by heating, and then cooled in a mold. Phylon material can be shaped into an endless amount of patterns and models. Advantages of the material include that footwear with this material is not only light and strong but also very breathable, which prevents foot sweat. It is also worth mentioning that primarily in the heel area, this material absorbs the hardest impacts, which is exactly where it is most beneficial.
Among other advantages of this material is that it is resistant to chemicals and, above all, chlorine. So you can move around the pool area without any worries. Another feature of phylon is non-marking, meaning it does not stain floors or leave marks. The surface of the material is also antimicrobial, so it eliminates the possibility of transmitting skin diseases as well as any odors. Besides being very easy to clean, it is also 100% recyclable, which is certainly another great plus of this material.
