Polyester is a synthetic fiber and one of the most widely used materials in the textile industry. It is primarily made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and is commonly used either on its own or blended with natural fibers such as cotton or wool.
Due to its versatile properties, polyester is found in a wide range of products including t-shirts, sweaters, activewear, jackets, and lining fabrics. It is known for being durable, wrinkle-resistant, colorfast, and easy to care for.
Polyester fabrics have low moisture absorption, making them quick-drying, and they show high resistance to sunlight, microbes, and mechanical wear. They can be chemically or mechanically modified to achieve specific characteristics like increased strength, elasticity, or luster.
Thanks to its adaptability, polyester is widely used not only in the apparel industry but also in furniture upholstery, automotive textiles, carpets, and technical fabrics. When blended with cotton or wool, polyester enhances durability, longevity, and appearance of the final product.
For maintenance, white and light-colored polyester garments can be washed up to 90 °C, while colored items should be washed at a maximum of 40 °C. Iron on a low setting (up to 160 °C) using a damp cloth.
