Cotton is a soft white substance consisting of fibers obtained from the seeds of plants belonging to the genus Gossypium. In the context of cotton, the term “singles” often indicates the weight, number of fibers, and other important attributes of the product.
In general, it can be said that the higher the number in the singles column, the tighter the woven pattern and the softer the knit feels. A classic 100% cotton T-shirt has 18 singles. Such a T-shirt will therefore be heavier than one with a lower cotton percentage; on the other hand, it will be maximally soft and comfortable. However, the demand now leans towards lighter and more breathable T-shirts or materials, which is why products with a lower percentage of cotton are coming to the forefront.
With a higher number of singles, the price for the given product also, of course, increases. It is then up to each individual whether they opt for maximum comfort at a slightly higher price or for the possibility of sacrificing comfort for a more acceptable price.
