The FAS® (Full Adjustable System) suspension system is used by the company Wisport in their large backpacks. The main components of the FAS® system are special bars made of duralumin alloy, which are an integral part of the backpack's back structure.
Aluminum alloy duralumin is lightweight, yet very strong, and is used to make aircraft fuselages, for example. Duralumin bars reinforce the back part of the backpack so much that they create a solid barrier between the contents of the backpack and the user's back. This prevents any awkward items from pressing into the back, while this aluminum construction maintains the desired shape of the backpack even under heavy load and keeps its individual components in the correct position.
The backpack can be adjusted in a wide range, thanks to the sliding straps, the backpack can be adapted to a tall figure. Further adjustments are enabled by the special construction of the waist belt, which is not permanently attached to the backpack and can be easily detached. The waist belt can be rotated 180 degrees, which extends the back length by approximately 8 cm due to its asymmetrical design. Thanks to the thoughtful construction, it allows for the transfer of about 70 – 80% of the load to the hips, however, with a light load, the backpack can also be used without this belt.
All parts of the backpack that are in contact with the user's body have an ergonomic shape and are made from materials that maximize comfort. Special foam covered with mesh (AIR NET, AIR MESH) is used on the straps and the back part. This material, with its air channels, allows the skin on the back to breathe and wicks away sweat, while its cushioning effect prevents chafing and delays the onset of fatigue, which we appreciate especially on longer journeys.
An important feature of any large backpack is its stability. Wisport backpacks, thanks to the FAS® system, are highly stable, do not sway while walking, and can handle significant dynamic stress, for example during running or skiing.
