The Swedish company Fjällräven (translated as "arctic fox") is today a legendary manufacturer of backpacks, clothing and other outdoor equipment. The result of the brand's long-term development is also this exceptionally breathable hunting jacket Drev Hybrid, which belongs to the Lappland product line.
The advantage of the material used in this jacket is its excellent water performance. It can repel water from the outside, but is completely breathable from the inside. This is due to the combination of the patented G-1000 Silent material (which is also windproof) and the waterproof Hydratic membrane, used on the hood, shoulders, lower back part and parts of the sleeves that are most exposed to the environment.
Fjällräven clothing and luggage, regardless of the model, are truly sustainable. For example, the polyester used in this jacket is recycled, and the use of organic cotton (both of these components make up the mentioned G-1000 Silent) is also pleasing. The manufacturer talks about so-called "sustainability through longevity." Which should be a standard for quality products regardless of the specific item.
From the past, we know that some clothing and equipment can even harm health with their chemical treatments. This is not the case with the Fjällräven Drev Hybrid hunting jacket, as it does not contain PFAS, which are perfluorinated and polyfluorinated substances, widely used in the 2nd half of the 20th century.
The Fjällräven Drev Hybrid jacket is truly tailored to the needs of hunters. Among the specific features, we can mention chest pockets with mesh inside for integrating a radio and clips for guiding the radio on both sides of the upper chest. There are also large front pockets, a large pocket at the bottom of the back, a removable and adjustable hood, zippered ventilation openings on the sides, and articulated sleeves for higher comfort.
This jacket is well-thought-out and offers protection against various external influences to its wearer. For example, it can insulate even when wet and dries quickly. It is also resistant to wear and tear and even to mosquitoes – thanks to its tight weave. Furthermore, the material does not allow UV radiation to pass through, and if it loses any of its unique properties over time and use, you can restore them with natural Greenland Wax impregnation.
