The original blanket of the German Bundeswehr dates back to the 1960s, but it is still new. This is a robust blanket with excellent thermoregulatory properties that belongs to the German army's storage.
The material used in the production of this blanket is 100% virgin wool. But natural materials such as wool have one problem during long-term storage – moths attack them. The wool in this blanket is thus treated with Mitin treatment (so-called eulanization), which ensures permanent resistance to moths and beetles.
This original German Army blanket boasts an extra strong, sturdy construction. It is very warm and robust and high pile. Thanks to its material, it has excellent thermoregulatory properties, which means that it is warm in winter and cool in summer.
The Bundeswehr blanket has a high grammage and weighs just under three kilos (2.9 kg). Which doesn't exactly sound like equipment for bivouacing minimalists, but if you don't mind a few extra grams, you'll get an honest, high-quality piece that will help protect you from the vagaries of the weather. The edges of the blanket are additionally sewn with green thread. Included in the blanket are inscriptions denoting federal military property.
