SBR foam is a foam material based on styrene-butadiene rubber, known by the abbreviation SBR. This foam has an excellent level of resistance to mechanical influences and is very flexible.
The advantage of SBR foam is, among other things, its versatile usability, thanks to its flexibility even in environments where vibrations need to be reduced. Rubber products made from SBR foam include seals, hoses or anti-vibration plates, but in our assortment you will find various protective elements for tactical and outdoor use – we are talking about knee or elbow protectors, for example.
The disadvantages of this material include low resistance to extreme temperatures and aggressive chemicals, as well as only partial resistance to various weather conditions (such as UV radiation) and oils. For this reason, it is not very suitable for permanent use outdoors when it is just below zero. On the other hand, it can handle use up to +82°C and its Shore hardness is specified in the range of 40 to 80 °ShA.
For some products, their manufacturers use combinations of SBR with NR (standard natural rubber) and NBR (butadiene-acrylonitrile rubber). In such a case, these products can boast better resistance to scratches and higher temperatures, as well as better physical and mechanical properties. SBR foam, as a synthetic rubber, is produced from petroleum, unlike natural rubber.
