Melonite®

What is Melonite^®

Melonite is a special thermochemical treatment of steel parts. It is used to improve the surface properties of steel. The surface treatment process is called nitriding. 

Treatment Process 

Nitrogen and carbon diffuse into ferrous metals, with the temperature at a subcritical level. In the process, the metal is immersed in a salt bath. 

Key Properties 

Metal treated with Melonite^® technology has the following properties: 

• resistant to corrosion 
• resistant to common wear 
• resistant to abrasion and abrasive wear 

Applications

Melonite is used in a wide range of industrial sectors. It can also be found in the arms or aerospace industry.
