Internal Midsole System - AKU Tactical (IMS)

What versions of the IMS (Internal Midsole System) technology exist?

There are several types of soles and technologies:

• IMS1 PRECISE – utilizes and combines internal midsole (IMS) and external midsole (EMS) into the form of thin micro-porous EVA. Thanks to the low profile of the midsole, it is possible to ensure maximum sensitivity, reliability, and confidence during movement. It is suitable for terrains where a quick reaction is needed based on shifting/ moving terrain.
• IMS2 AGILE – this system combines the Internal Midsole System into a thicker midsole in precisely fitting EVA or PU. This is all to achieve a golden mean between control over walking, foot protection + shock absorption, and foot sensitivity when steering. Maximum comfort and fit are essential here.
• IMS3 SMOOTH MOUNTAINEERING – Internal Midsole System is combined here with an Exoskeleton constructed from medium-density Polyurethane. This ensures stability and foot protection. The inner light part made from lightweight Polyurethane provides a cushioning effect, absorbs shocks, and has a strong compression force. It also features a light and durable TPU heel and rubber edging around the toes and along the shoe, to provide good grip for climbing or trekking crampons. The sole is made of VIBRAM^® material.
• IMS3 SMOOTH BACKPACKING – as with the previous version, the Internal Midsole System is combined with an Exoskeleton constructed from medium-density Polyurethane. This ensures stability and foot protection. The inner light part made from lightweight Polyurethane provides a cushioning effect, absorbs shocks, and has a strong compression force. Unlike IMS3 SMOOTH MOUNTAINEERING, this version does not include a crampon section. The sole is also made of VIBRAM^® material.
• IMS3 SMOOTH TREKKING – as with the previous version, the Internal Midsole System is combined with an Exoskeleton constructed from medium-density Polyurethane, complemented by a component made from molded EVA material (this layer is softer, so it again provides a cushioning effect, and the quality of footfall and shock absorption is high, making it an exceptionally comfortable solution). This ensures stability and foot protection. The outer light part made from lightweight Polyurethane provides a cushioning effect, is also a durable material, and offers protection and support on key parts of the foot and sole to ensure safer steps. The sole is also made of VIBRAM® material.
