Effective camouflage complicates (and ideally completely prevents) the ability of an observing person to detect and recognize the shapes and forms of individuals wearing camouflage.
Deployment status: This is a camouflage pattern from the private company PenCott™, so whoever desires it, can have it.
In modern operations, armies, and battlefields, operational military officers face the need to have their personnel as well camouflaged as possible. However, this is far from the end of it, as it is typically necessary to camouflage simultaneously in a variety of environments as one transitions through different terrain types, as individual mission objectives emerge located elsewhere.
In highly intensified situations, even a fraction of a second plays a pivotal role in such challenging circumstances. Even the smallest detail in the quality of camouflage can be the difference between the success and failure of a mission. This is why the slogan of the company PenCott® – Mission Critical Camouflage.
All camouflage patterns from the PenCott® series were created by the personality known as Dom Hyde. His camouflage patterns strive and fulfill a single purpose: a range of camouflages for various environments, each having a unique mix of "three images in one" colors (looking different up close, at distance, and from afar), comprise geometrical patterns that are more organic and naturally appearing than typical modern digital camouflage. This is the reason they provide excellent camouflage up close, from medium distance, and afar.
Dom Hyde has been literally obsessed with camouflage patterns and the art of hidden camouflage since childhood. This gave him the space to experiment and logically time to search for only the best. He is now accredited with almost two thousand camouflage patterns for clothing, vehicles, and any infrastructure.
When venturing to ensure and develop what we know today as the PenCott® family of camouflage patterns, Dom Hyde was motivated by the need to surpass standard-issue camouflage patterns, which today often unnecessarily compromise the efforts to shield personnel and all possessions. In extreme situations, this could cost the wearer their life.
According to Dom Hyde's opinion, it was necessary to re-examine and scrutinize the entire issue with a modern and innovative perspective.
As you can see, the level of coverage with a standard camouflage pattern on one side and with the PenCott™ GreenZone™ pattern by Dom Hyde on the other (two soldiers above) clearly speaks in favor of the latter. Blending into the greenery has never been easier!
Moreover, according to Gestalt's theory of visual psychology, people unconsciously constantly seek order in the chaos around them. They simply strive to subconsciously find and recognize visual stimuli by seeking differences in dimensions, shapes, positions, contrasts, and color in this environment, … That is why Dom Hyde decided to use in his creation for the PenCott™ series a hybrid high-contrast pattern that decisively disrupts uniformity.
Dom Hyde explored all challenges of creating truly perfect modern concealment from a range of perspectives. He studied for instance even natural concealment of all types by living animals. Then he analyzed current designs on the market and trends in armies and markets. He also devoted a considerable look at the history of camouflage. All this helped him clarify what he considers a truly perfect modern camouflage pattern and how to create it as a partial compilation of everything previously mentioned.
Mr. Hyde often delved into the aforementioned knowledge bank and gained numerous valuable insights – such as which colors (or their combinations) most commonly occur in nature. He cross-referenced all this with data on places where the target camouflage pattern would be used + considered modern military tactics and strategy needs in his design. After a few years of independent testing, analysis, development, and the creation of literally hundreds of camouflage patterns (of which only about two dozen were tested live in action) - Dom developed a unique geometric camouflage pattern that was more effective and more adaptable than other available market options today.
The result he ended up with was a naturally-looking hybrid camouflage pattern with amazing parameters that combines false edges (colors with high differentiation) for maximum concealment of areas with the illusion of the 3D image thanks to the texture (so-called hypo-acutance dithering), thus giving rise to a complex camouflage pattern that hides its wearer effectively thanks to the illusion of a very complex vision. This pattern helps with protection from detection at multiple distances simultaneously. This camouflage pattern was later optimized for warm and tropical areas and was renamed "PenCott™ GreenZone™".
Within two years, other camouflage patterns from the PenCott™ series were developed, each tailored to its environment: namely PenCott™ BadLands™, PenCott™ SandStorm™, and PenCott™ SnowDrift™. All are naturally currently produced by numerous companies on the market.
