The origin of the registered trademark ULTRATHERM is in the Scottish company AZTEC Europe Ltd. These products, manufactured in accordance with demanding European standards for more than 20 years, are among the most commonly used heaters for vivariums in the world. Thanks to the principle of infrared radiation, they create conditions for animals that are very close to their natural environment. Since 2008, AZTEC has been part of the FENIX holding group, and the offer of standard heating systems has been expanded to include this specific assortment.
Ultratherm panels are designed for heating or local heating of larger areas – for example, for warming breeding rooms, large terrariums, or shelters for dogs. They work on the principle of infrared radiation (similarly to ceramic lamps), but they have a significantly lower temperature over a much larger area – they can be installed in applications where the animal may come into contact with the panel. The panels have an IP44 rating and are equipped with a thermal fuse that protects the panel from overheating. Standard panels are available in brown or white, and can be ordered (for an extra charge) in other colors.
Another range of Fenix products includes Ultratherm heating foils and strips that produce infrared heat at ultra-long wavelengths, making them ideal for heating vivariums and terrariums. The animals absorb this radiant heat in a manner very similar to their natural environment. The foils are suitable as a 24-hour heat source and can be used under the bottom or on the outer wall of a terrarium/vivarium tank. Typically, only part of the tank area is covered so the animal can find a spot with the ideal temperature. These foils have been manufactured in Scotland for over 20 years. All models meet the safety directive requirements of the European Economic Commission and are marked with the CE label.
