The material labeled as Paratex® Dry is a 100% water-resistant fabric (coated with so-called Hydrophilic Polyurethane) and its resistance reaches 5000 mm water column (similar items intended for holidays and camping are considered water-resistant if they have at least a 1500 mm column).
It is a modern fabric consisting of multiple layers that have a rip-stop arrangement. It is also associated with the use of coating from Hydrophilic Polyurethane. During the process, water is converted into vapor and is then chemically redirected from the inside out (this is possible due to the temperature gradient inside and outside).
The Paratex® Dry fabric is exclusively used in fully sewn products and with taped seams. As befitting all its other variants (Paratex® Steelplate, Paratex® Light, ...), this one also retains all of their main advantages:
Its airiness and breathability are best utilized when making the outer part of your sleeping bag for bivouacking in nature. It is also useful as a middle layer in a waterproof jacket. However, we remind you that higher breathability is more meaningful for people who sweat a lot.
The really high breathability (about 5000-8000 mm) means that you will feel colder in the jacket when not sweating.
However, be aware that Paratex® Dry, due to its outer layer, is slightly breathable but not sufficiently so for you to completely enclose yourself in it and breathe through it! An opening is always necessary, otherwise, there is a risk of suffocation!
