On cutting tools, we can find several types of edges, or grinds.
The most common type of edge, it is the most versatile, and can be found on most knives. The advantage is easy manual sharpening (also possible with sets that maintain the angle of the edge).
This is an edge similar to flat ground, but the angle is blunter, making it less susceptible to damage from impacts, although cutting capability is worse.
A very high-quality and durable edge, unfortunately difficult to achieve under amateur conditions.
A type of edge used on razors. Excellent cutting capability, but the edge dulls quickly and is prone to damage.
Among the less commonly used ones, we can mention the chisel grind used on chisels and special knives, or the double-cone grind with high impact resistance, used on tools like chisels.
