Nordsjø means North Sea in Norwegian. It is also the name of one of the most popular and iconic Norwegian wool sweaters from the company Devold, which is among the oldest producers of functional clothing in the world, with a tradition going back approximately to the mid-19th century!
This classic wool sweater was originally developed for fishermen working in the harsh environment of the Norwegian coast. It features a chevron (V-shaped) pattern that distinguishes it from competitors and gives it an air of originality. Some regard it as the original Norwegian sweater, a concept that is renowned worldwide, particularly in colder regions where such a sweater is utilized.
The Norwegian wool sweater Devold Nordsjø was produced in many variations, including the one that became an icon of American preppy and ivy style thanks to L.L. Bean. The sweater is made from 100% pure, new wool from Norwegian sheep. The collar and cuffs at the waist and sleeves are ribbed.
