Bergans is a Norwegian manufacturer of quality outdoor clothing and equipment. One of the benchmarks of this brand's portfolio is the Helium backpack, which has been on the market in various variations and variants since 2001, i.e. well over 20 years.
Bergans Helium backpacks don't bear their name for nothing. They are ultralight and can thus be used by fans of "ultralight" trekking. They are also used by expeditions to all three poles of the earth (in addition to the north and south, the top of Mount Everest is also considered one of the poles). However, they are not only chosen by top expedition participants, but also by regular tourists and outdoor enthusiasts who care about quality.
For the fifth generation of Helium backpacks, Bergans has developed its own material, the high-quality components of which include nylon 66 and Black Dyneema with ripstop treatment. This material is extremely strong and durable. At the same time, the ripstop treatment means that the surface of the Helium backpack is less prone to tearing. And if by chance a crack does appear, thanks to this modification, it will not spread so easily.
Although the Bergans Helium backpack is designed for ultralight enthusiasts and is therefore very lightweight, this does not mean that its manufacturer makes compromises in terms of comfort when carrying it. The backpack features a triple back length, contoured waist strap and a triple density support system. However, compared to most competing backpacks of a similar size, it is still one of the lightest.
The advanced carrier system of Bergans Helium backpacks includes the solution of adjustable torso length QuickAdjust PRO with variable adjustment of the positions of the load fixators. The upper balance is adjustable in height, and the waist belt and shoulder straps have a soft, comfortable and at the same time breathable mesh on the surface, which makes carrying the backpack easier. In addition, the waist belt is detachable, which can further reduce the total weight of the backpack (specifically by 150 g).
In addition to the standard top entry to the backpack with drawcord and lid, a diagonal front zipper ensures easy access to the things inside. Thanks to this, you can always get to the contents without rummaging, whether you have things thrown inside just like a mess or have them carefully put together. There are two compression straps on both sides for even better fixation of the load.
In addition to the main compartment, the Bergans Helium 55 backpack offers large side mesh pockets as well as a lid with a large mesh pocket, which also includes a key hook. The lid is height-adjustable and, like the waist belt, detachable (you save 55 g). In addition, you can create a small waist bag from the separate waist belt combined with the lid.
Bergans Helium backpacks are also equipped with extra functions. For example, they are compatible with a hydration system and also have fixation points to which trekking poles or ice axes can be attached. In addition, all zippers come from the high-quality Japanese brand YKK.
The individual materials and components used in the production of this backpack are bluesign certified, which means guaranteed safe use of chemicals in production. Which is another argument for choosing this quality, universal and highly functional outdoor backpack.
